Currently on the market, most Malaria RDT use Lateral Flow Assay as their core technology. A typical device can be illustrated using BinaxNOW Malaria- Alere, which is the first malaria RDT that get FDA approved. The device has a card format that can operate based on blood sample obtained by finger prick. The test strip is coated with specific antibodies that can react only with malaria-infected blood. Results are qualitatively shown through test line’s color change.
